BTU Guide

BTU (British Thermal Units) is the measure of a radiator's heat output. Choosing a radiator with the right output for your room helps keep it comfortable and efficient.

What affects the BTU you need

  • Room size (length, width and ceiling height)
  • Room type and the temperature you want it kept at
  • Number and type of windows (single or double glazing)
  • Insulation, external walls and the floor below
  • Which way the room faces

Choosing your radiator

Each product page lists the heat output for every size. Compare the listed output with the requirement for your room, and if you are replacing a radiator, aim for at least the same output as the old one. Where a room needs more heat than one radiator provides, two smaller radiators can be used.
